How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? ( approx. 400 words)

Music Video

My brief is to produce a three minute rock music video by a fictional band/artist signed to universal, and two pages for the working website of the artist. I will be targeting towards a more indie rock music genre using the song "Talk" by Beabadoobee meaning it will also fit in with my brief and will appeal to a 16-25 year old audience. My music video will be a mix between narrative and performance which is in many indie music videos, i want to provide a narrative that can be up to debate for each individual's perspective and how they would like to watch it. It is mainly targeted at teenage girls and i want it to seem realistic to the sort of ways they would act so i am going to use fake props for instruments for example a hairbrush for a mic, a broom for a bass etc.. I will mainly be using everyday scenery so the audience can connect more to the video and not be unrealistic taking away from that capitalist ideology of artists being presented as aspirational figures and having a sociopolitical value by having the artist as an equal someone the audience can imagine themselves as them.

Website

I will be using my music video to create my colour palette and aesthetic of my website. I am going to use typical codes and conventions of an indie rock website something that will grab the attention of my audience that wont make them feel like there is too much going on. The layout of my website will heavily take inspiration from the artist Conan Gray's website, i really like how sleek and straightforward it is and how it is not hard to navigate. I will be featuring the artist name big on the top of the page to grab maximum attention. I will be having pictures all throughout my website whether it ranges from the artist performing, behind the scene pictures, planned photoshoot for the single or exclusive pictures shot through the journey of creating her music. The page will include her merch stores, sources to purchase tickets for her tour and where to stream her music to make it easy for her audience to interact and promote her as much as possible. I will also have a pop up that allows fans to pre-save her album as well as at the bottom of the page have a section where it encourages fans to sign up to her mailing list to get exclusive content and first to know updates. For my audio-visual element i will have a bloopers video and previous music videos that the artists shot for her music or was featured in the video.

How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production? (approx. 100 words)

The music video will feature a link to the website in the end card, while also having an easter egg of the website in the beginning of the music video. The website's homepage will have the music video on the homepage and hyperlinked page encouraging audience to view it, while the hyperlinked page will be a media page having bloopers/BTS, and other featured music videos to attract more fans; there will also be an artists and director podcast interview, and an artist gallery, having the convergence needed to attract audience with diverse music and BTS experiences.

You work for an independent media production company. You have been given the task of producing a three-minute music video for a rock song* by a fictional band/artist signed to Universal and two pages for the working website for the band/artist.

You may use an existing song for your music video (this does not need to be copyright free).

The web pages must promote the band/artist to its target audience and enable fans to interact with them.

Summary of brief requirements:

Statement of Intent (approx. 500 words).1

Number of web pages: One homepage and one linked page.

Cross-media production target audience: A primarily 16–25 year old middle market audience that likes to be entertained.

There must be a clear sense of branding across the two elements of the cross-media production.

Website

Inspiration

Beabadoobee

- An animated text of her artist's name is the first thing you see when you open the website taking up most of the page, and three other small button underneath her name that takes you either to her tour dates, store and to listen to her music.

- There is also links at the bottom of the page to take you to each one of her accounts for each app e.g. Instagram, Tiktok, Spotify etc...

- The same layout is kept in her next page in her website for her tour dates, she keeps the same animated  title with her name also taking up the whole page with  and underneath it is the tour dates a bit smaller but not too small that you would miss it. She also keeps the other two buttons of "Listen" and "Store" so you can still go to the other two pages from the Tour page without having to go back to the home page, as well as that she also keeps her links to the her accounts for each app at the bottom of the page.

-The layout changes when you go to the Store page, the first thing you see is a big banner of a picture of the artist herself and her artist name on top of it, I really like how that looks, how it is the first thing you get to see when you enter the shop, confirming that it is the right place.

Clairo

-I really like the use of a video as the background of the section it seems very interactive to the viewers and lets people stay in the site longer because they are interested in it.

Hozier

-I like how there is a pop up for a subscription and being put on the email list for the artist when you get to the end of the website page.
-I like the gallery scroll of the different music videos at the bottom that you can scroll through and watch after you watch the main one that is put on the website.
-I like the use of a video as the background of the website right when you open it.
-I like how for the tour dates it not just one section with all the tour dates listed on it how it varies with different images next to it every 3 dates.

Conan Gray

-I really like how the music video for his new song is taken up a whole section so it is vert obvious that it is there and that you cant miss it.
-I also really like for the way he has put his merch and his songs he has used like a gallery scroll of his new music and his merch shop.
-I really like that he has kept the social media links in the corner of every page so it is always there for you to be able to access it.

Arctic Monkeys

Description automatically generated

-I really like that the first thing that you see when you get onto the website is a big header of their band name.
-I also really like the way that they have used the same picture as the background and the cover on the front page taking you to go listen to their music, but there is a different feel  between the two of them because of one them is zoomed in and the other one is the full original picture.
